How to join scouts

If your child is interested in joining Scouts you can either contact us by emailing us or you can pop into to one of our Troop meetings on a Thursday 7:15pm - 9:15pm and register your child's interest.
If he/she comes to a Troop meeting they will be able to join in straight away with the acitvities which we are doing that night.
The first three weeks are free but after that he/she will have to pay a subscription of £2.50 per week.
Once you the parent/guardian is happy that your son/daughter is likely to carry on attending then you are asked to purchase a uniform for him/her.
Details of where to purchase uniforms are available elsewhere on this Website. Our Scout uniform consists of Shirt, trousers, belt and Group scarf. If you inform the staff which Group you are from they will supply the correct one. (Maroon with a white border)
Once your child has a Uniform and has completed his/her initial training then he/she will be invested i.e. become a Scout Association member.
All Scouts must accept our Law and Promise
which is either:

On my honour, I promise that I will do my best,
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people,
And to keep the Scout Law.

or different variations depending on faith or country of residence (these will be discussed with the child if a variation is required).
The Scout Troop weekly Subscription (subs) is £2.50 which covers a contribution to National Headquarters, our District and our Scout County, any activities that we do, refreshments and the cost of any badges we need to buy to present to the Scouts when they complete the work required to be awarded the badge.
We ask parents/guardians to complete a "Gift Aid Form" which means that we can claim an Income Tax rebate on the amount paid to the Group.

Scouts wear a teal green shirt or blouse, navy blue activity trousers or skirt, a group scarf with a woggle, and a Scout belt.
